Overview
Galp set out to launch a new version of the Mundo Galp app, faster, more scalable, and ready to support its omnichannel experience strategy across mobility, home energy, and customer benefits.
In a context of high functional complexity and multiple integrations, Innovagency was the partner responsible for developing the new Flutter mobile app and the supporting web backoffice, working in a consortium with AdvanceWorks and in close collaboration with Galp’s internal teams. The result is a living product, in continuous evolution, that brings together into a single experience the day-to-day relationship between customers and Galp’s energy ecosystem.
A complex transactional app, designed around real-world journeys
The new Mundo Galp app is a largescale transactional product that combines mobility, energy, and loyalty features in one coherent experience. From account creation, profile and payment management to electric vehicle charging, transaction history and discount usage, each flow was designed to reduce friction and give users more control.
To support this level of complexity, Innovagency led the detailed functional definition of the app, mapping user journeys and experience constraints, and documenting everything in Confluence to align business and technology teams. This work ensured that UX decisions and Flutter implementation responded to Galp’s feature strategy, without compromising performance or scalability.

Our approach
Innovagency played a central role in turning Galp’s vision into a concrete Flutter solution and a supporting web backoffice. Working hand in hand with product, technology and partner teams, we aligned strategy, experience, and technical execution.
We focused on producing clear functional specifications, organising and preparing Figma files for handover, implementing the mobile and backoffice frontends, integrating backend services and SDKs, and running a rigorous internal testing cycle before handing over to Galp’s QA teams.
Key challenges
-
Functional and transactional complexity A single app needed to cover multiple domains – electric mobility, fuelling, discounts, loyalty, payments – demanding an integrated view of journeys, user states and business rules. -
Multiple systems and SDK integrations The app consumes services from a rich backend provided by AdvanceWorks and integrates several external SDKs, requiring careful interface design and robust frontend implementation in Flutter. Performance and user experience Overcoming performance issues meant making technical and UX choices oriented to speed, fluid navigation, and clear user feedback. Demanding real world testing contexts Many features depend on field conditions (for example, electric charging sessions and onsite operations), making data preparation, environments and devices critical to realistic validation.
Core app capabilities
-
Homescreen & navigation
A home designed to surface the most frequent actions first and highlight relevant campaigns and benefits. -
End-to-end electric charging
Find charging points, start and end sessions, monitor charging in real time, simulate costs and pay directly in the app, now also with MB WAY -
Benefits, balance and coupons
View balances, coupons and discounts, convert balances into benefits and apply them in energy bills or fuel operations, all within a single ecosystem. -
Continente Card integration
Link the Cartão Continente to earn and use balance at Galp, access available coupons and discounts. -
Discount cards & payments
Associate Galp discount cards such as Galp Frota Business or Galp+ and manage payment methods, preparing the app for fast, seamless payments across Galp touchpoints. -
Maps
Quickly locate fuel stations and charging points, with information about services, schedules, power levels and connector types. -
Transaction history
Track charging sessions and fuel transactions. -
Account creation & authentication
Secure, streamlined registration, login and access recovery integrated with Galp authentication solution -
Profile management & app settings
A single place to manage personal data, contacts, communication preferences and app level settings. -
Feedback and rating
Share positive or negative feedback and be redirected to the app stores, creating a continuous improvement loop driven by user input.
Backoffice web
To support daily operations and continuous evolution of the app, Innovagency also developed the associated web backoffice, leveraging Galp’s Design System components whenever applicable. This backoffice enables internal teams to manage content, monitor key operational data, and support core processes that impact the app experience.
As with the app, the work started from functional specification, translating business requirements into clear, testable use cases. We then implemented the frontend, integrated it with backend services, and conducted internal functional testing before handing over to Galp’s QA teams.
Testing and launch
In a project with so many variables – multiple systems, different usage contexts and a highly transactional app – testing was critical. Innovagency led internal functional testing, combining SauceLabs, real devices and onsite sessions at Galp’s Retail Lab to validate electric mobility and fueling scenarios from end to end.
This effort allowed the teams to approach golive with higher confidence in the quality of the experience, reducing production risk and paving the way for the next phase: support, maintenance and feature evolution with ongoing releases.
Results and impact
The new Mundo Galp app represents a qualitative leap in how Galp interacts digitally with its customers, both on the road and at home. The experience is faster, more integrated and better aligned with the brand’s product strategy, supported by a modern technical architecture and a solid, well documented functional foundation.
Internally, detailed documentation, alignment between teams and the supporting backoffice create the conditions for continuous evolution, more predictable development cycles and a stronger capacity to respond to new challenges. For Innovagency, this project is another example of how we combine strategy, UX and technology to deliver complex digital products in partnership with ambitious clients and technology players.
